I came by to a pile of clothes while returning from nightlife adventures last saturday night. There was trousers, boots, jacket and some other stuff too, in Kallio district of Helsinki, just by the street. Without too much a thought, I decided to grab the jacket with me since it looked ok and seemed abandoned.
After a walk of 10 meters or so, I forgot the clothes, since one fellow from our company heard some screams behind the wall that was next to the street. After a short investigation, we noticed that there indeed was someone, and the someone seemed to be in a trouble. I jumped on top of the wall, and saw that the other side was about 5-10 meters lower, the treetops we're below my position. An odd discussion followed:
ME: "Hello? Is anybody there? Does someone need help there?"
VOICE: "...are you even alive?"
ME: "Huh? I guess so, how about you?"
VOICE: *some crying and mutter I couldn't understand*
ME: "Do you need help?"
VOICE: *some more mutter, and a couple of curses I understood*
ME: "Uh... I hope you're ok, we'll call someone to help you, just in case."
The voice didn't respond anymore. We called the police, who arrived and released us from the situation, and thanked for our help. We continued our voyage home.
In the train I remembered the pile of clothes again, because I found the jacket from my bag. I can't help but to think what the fuck had happened there, and did the police found the one/ones in trouble. Just today I realized what the voice's question might have meant. My own voice came from above the trees... it just might be that the one didn't know if he/she was alive anymore. I hope the tale had at least a somewhat happy ending.
