The second gig was better.
The rehearsals didn't go very well, we had problems with equipment and just had difficulties reaching the right soundscape. The power failure, which cut down electricity from the whole f*ckin' Helsinki-area for at least half an hour, didn't help (power failures of this magnitude are extremely rare in Finland). And one girl from the apartment we trained in had to be taken to hospital just when we were starting to head to the gig place.
Inkvisitio isn't organized very well. Nobody could really answer our questions (like "when do you want us to perform?" and "where can we build up our equipment?"). In the end, we had to wait till the other artist (Folio) performed, and then build up our own set and do the gig without any proper soundchecks or anything. And I could count the people who weren't organisators or performers with my fingers. Using one hand only.
The first thing I noticed in the gig was that my headphones didn't work. That wasn't very nice, since among other things I'm responsible the live mixing of the band and without headphones there's no way telling how the gig sounds to the audience. And that's not even nearly all what went wrong yesterday. But.
People danced. Lot's of people came to shake hands after the gig. The little audience we had actually had liked us quite much. I smiled. It was worth the troubles. Made me feel good. I could get used to this kind of life.
So, what went wrong with the first gig, at Studio La-bas? Nothing really. Better organized. More crowd. Equipment worked and I think we sounded better there. We got some praises then, too. I just didn't really enjoy it very much, for reasons unknown to me too.
