I had been worried about the state of my pond. I use algae control drops, but it's still hard to
keep it from becoming a bit scummy. Then my pump went out and I was concerned about
not being able to support life in the pond.
I mean, sure, the amphibians like to hang out there - in fact the frogs and toads are constantly
having turf battles - but I didn't think that particularly meant anything. Heck, I even find a frog sitting
in Boris's outside water dish on some mornings.
But now, I guess I have nothing to worry about. My six goldfish have become eleven goldfish
this spring. And today I noticed that the inner wall of the pond is lined with hundreds of wee tadpoles.
I'm guessing that they have a fairly high infant mortality rate, because I'm wondering where all these
little guys are gonna go. I don't even know if they're frogs, toads, or both.
Whatever they are, it'll be cool to see them grow, sprout legs, and get bigger.
I'm pretty honored to have them here!
