Kitty times two

I've read two more Kitty books by Carrie Vaughn: Kitty goes to Washington and Kitty takes a holiday. My review of the first book can be found here.
By the way, I didn't mention this in my previous posts, but when I talk about a sequel, I plan to keep it short, because most of what I said about the first book still holds.
Kitty, the sassy werewolf/radio-show host, continues to have adventures of the kind that don't exactly lengthen your life-span. Like the first book, Kitty has a great personality and sense of humor, but also keeps the story focused on the human aspects in all situations.
However, I found the second and third book are not as good as the first one, in particularly Washington-one. That mainly has to do with the plot.
The first book had a sound plot: one big overall nasty mystery, which was solved in the end, and meanwhile Kitty as a person really grew a lot. However, there is now much less room left for Kitty to grow and also the plots in the two sequels are less focused. The Holiday-one does have an overall mystery and while that is going, the tension is high. But it is solved sometime before the end of the book and wrapping up the loose strands afterwards isn't as exciting for some reason. Like Kitty is only really interesting when she's in danger.
And in the second book, it is very unclear initially what the mystery is and where the book is going. Different events take place one after another, but there doesn't seem to be a clear link between them, a final goal to reach, which prevents the book from being a real page-turner.

In the end, if the first book was your kinda thing, you'll like the two sequels as well. If you were a bit "mwah" about the first book, then I'm afraid it doesn't get better.
