I'm REALLY interested in going into music therapy. It doesn't make that much money....aout $20 000/year on the low end and $60 000/year on the high end. AND i have to take biology but it still seems really awesome.
I looked into what I would have to take in uni...its a lot of music stuff obviously, lots of psychology....9 courses! aswell as 1 biology or kinesiology and 1 drama or kinesiology. I'd probably take kinesiology and drama. And I'd have to take a nursing course. It sounds amazing. I really want to do it I think. The only 2 places that offer it are Laurier in waterloo and Windsor in...well windsor! For either I'd live in rez..which is good i really want to :) but windsors SO far away! I'm not too keen on going that far.... but its the only program that puts you DIRECTLY into music therapy. At laurier you have to do 2 years of studies and then after that apply for the music therapy program. Both you do 4 years of work and then do a 1000 hour internship. The thing with Laurier though, it seems more hands-on which is good. you work with kids and in your 4th year you're assigned specifically to one child to work with for the whole year. it sounds awesome. Its something I think I really want to do, and music therapists are in high demand now!
I think tomorrow I'll make an appointment with Mr.McQueen to ask how to tell if one program is better than another. Its impossible to tell! They all say they're good!
