ベタ

Meaning: typical; unoriginal

Example: 靴箱にラブレターとかいって超ベタじゃん。[Love letters in shoe boxes are so unoriginal.] / つくづくベタな考えしか思いつかないな、おまえ。[You're ideas are always so typical.]

Notes: I see this around in mangas a lot, and it's used in school too. No idea how the word came to be, but it's not on the dictionary yet I think.
