I got the Playing Too Long subpoena a few weeks ago. It felt very anticlimactic, although I suppose much of the game is like that at this stage. (It's just not as exciting to finally get Tera Wind and Tera Fire when the units that first learned them are immediately reincarnated in other classes so that they can continue to learn new spells. Mog is approaching his second Prinny-carnation, I think, but he's still 21 levels and 21 felonies away.)
I think it helps if you're not expecting the Playing Too Long subpoena; I hadn't read the strategy guide enough to even realize it existed when I got it.
I wasn't as good with powerleveling my mages as I was my gunners and my monsters. Fluffy♥ was a damage machine, though.
My monsters are all WIMPS (ok, I only have three). By the way, the Alraune is a bit fragile, but makes up for that with distance attacks. Movement sucks, though.
I'm still not sure what's causing staves to give higher ATK/etc. bonuses than other weapons - the staff was listed with a lower bonus, yet boosted ATK by more than the spear did. So confused.
I'd forgotten that the subpoena existed, but I was pretty much, "That's all I get?! Can't I have something cool?" I have too many subpoenas that I haven't collected because their bailiffs are too high level for me to bother (bunch of 58 and 62 level bailiffs).
Alraune doesn't sound bad aside from the movement. Granted, with the right accessories, that could potentially be worked around. I like having units that can cover a lot of ground quickly (if for no other reason than the ability to make a quick getaway), although good distance attacks are useful too. But that's me.
You could try moving the bailiffs to weak items, but even there the enemies can get powerful the deeper you go; I think I was running into pretty strong enemies in some legendary starter weapon or other. And of course it depends on which rare/legendary items you have.
Movement isn't especially terrible, but it's disappointing that a physically weak monster can't run away easily (of course, it does make sense, I just find it annoying).
I'm severely tempted to attempt to push through to the end of the game. Mog would be capable of clearing story stages by himself if none of the enemies ever ganged up on him; he's got enough SP to cast indiscriminately, and the only spells he's lacking are Tera Fire and Tera Star.
You're right; it does make sense, especially in this case since Alraune is a plant monster. But it is annoying all the same.
I probably should have done that at some point on my PS2 save, if for no other reason then to be able to get on with the postgame more quickly. But no. Mog is progressing nicely, though.
