I'm, um, sort of with Joann on this one. I'm sure it's a great game - it's just that I think I would have totally thrown it off a very deep cliff before getting even to this point. The constant shuffling of people in and out of your party, at least, would have made me fume a lot.
Although it does sound utterly hilarious when you summarize it like that. :)
And... I just fought Golbez in the Dwarf Kingdom (because it turns out that there are four more crystals nobody knew about, except that Golbez already has two of them, because we suck). He is much, much nastier than he was last time out (read: Total Party Wipe). So... yeah.
Also, I need to update the confirmed death toll; a member of Team Uber-Fail got himself killed right on schedule. On the bright side, Kain isn't evil at the moment.
...And Hollie has just dug my inhaler out from under my pillow. Naturally, she has claimed it as her toy. /non sequitur
Wait, you were massively overleveled and Golbez STILL took you out? Holy cow. That's some game.
... Um. Last night? Umaro looked like he was trying to sleep. So I tiptoed to the light switch and turned it off so he didn't have to squint to block out the light. We're so pwned, aren't we?
Heh. It turns out that he's much easier if you cast Slow on him before he starts killing off your party (which is scripted, by the way - he kills everyone off but Cecil, clearing the way for Rydia to make her glorious return... wait, did you play FFIV already? I don't want to be repeating things you already know).
After we got everyone else back on their feet, Rydia took him out with ONE SUMMON.
Squeenix changed a few things up for this version. For one thing, Golbez changes his weaknesses periodically.
Um, no, I stopped playing after the summoner village was destroyed - in other words, before the game really started. So I only know FFIV through your posts.
Hm. I've almost never seen Slow be actively useful, so that's pretty cool.
Umaro is currently attempting to demolish some newspaper and possibly dig through the floor. ^^; I think he's enjoying himself? I hope so.
And then I had to go and skip the part where Palom and Porom sacrificed themselves to save the rest of the party. Have I mentioned how much I hate infiltrating Castle Baron? Because I hate infiltrating Castle Baron. It's massively depressing.
Slow has its moments. It's also vital for the Demon Wall in the Sealed Cave, which is coming up sometime later. Shell's even come in handy in this game, which is quite unusual (I don't remember needing it in either of the other versions I've played).
^^; I hope he's enjoying himself, too. Though not that he dig through the floor.
