Why Bo Diddley was awesome, part... uh, lots

From Wikipedia:

Bo Diddley has included women in his band, being one the first American male musicians to do so. This includes Peggy Jones (aka Lady Bo, born 1940), Norma-Jean Wofford (aka The Duchess, c. 1942-2005), Cornelia Redmond (aka Cookie) and Debby Hastings, who led his band for the final 25 years of his performing career. He also set up one of the first home recording studios...

The Duchess can be seen here. Lady Bo is featured in this video. [ETA: Debby Hastings can be seen here.]

There's an in-depth bio of Peggy Jones/Lady Bo here (she's still performing! yay!). The Duchess died in 2005; there's an obit here. More info on Debby Hastings, who is also still performing, is here (omgbassplayer! ♥ bass guitar). Cornelia Redmond/Cookie died in 1999.
