History:
Zoey spent the majority of her time at Hogwarts desperately wanting to get out. It was no small secret that she wasn't winning any popularity contest. It also wasn't a secret that she didn't care all that much. Zoey was perfectly happy to get out of Hogwarts and as far away from everyone inside the castle as she could, only a handful of friends worth keeping in contact with (namely Marlow Linney, Katie Bell, and Eddie Carmichael). That's not to say she didn't have fun while she was there, but her friends (and hook-ups) were few and far between.
Then she graduated, realized her dream job as a Muggle Relations Barrister for the Ministry of Magic was the worst idea she's ever entertained, and dropped out after one term of higher education. Instead, she took up competitive ballroom dancing, teaching a few dance classes at Twinkle Charms Dance Studio, and started dating Fin Bradley. The war was in full swing at the time, and they'd been a comfort for each other but knew it wasn't going anywhere. When they broke up, there were no hard feelings between them.
Zoey went on dancing and prepping for competitions until she had a realization that was like being dropped in ice water. She found out she was pregnant and had no idea what to do about it.
Surprisingly, or not knowing Fin, when AJ (Aiden Jacob Ferris-Bradly) was born, Fin didn't disappear. Instead, he stayed around. Both of them had experienced less than ideal childhoods and were more committed than most to making sure AJ knew he had a family that loved him even if his parents weren't going to be together. There was never a shortage of family dinners and family meetings for the Ferris-Bradly parenting co-op. It was terribly unconventional, but they made it work.
Since then, Zoey went on to take over as owner and primary instructor of Twinkle Charms and a day doesn't go by that she doesn't consider changing the name. She does fewer competitions than she used to and focuses on only the larger competitions in the year, focusing the rest of the time on AJ as much as possible.
