And Then What?
I’ve been wanting to come back to my Mal and Inara stories for a while. Every night when I switch out the light, my thoughts go “Right. Mal and Inara…” and then I’m dead to the world.
The problem is I had intended Leave of Absence to be an ending, of sorts, so trying to find a new beginning out of that has been a challenge. I’m cheating at the moment, writing little interim pieces - what I’m calling (if only in my head) the “And Then What?” series.
The first one was Mal’s. There is a companion piece (ha! - sorry) in the works for Inara as well. Usually I like to string my little vignettes together to turn them into a story, but in this case I really want to use the sense of time passing, so they will likely be strung out over weeks.
At least, that’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it.
