Writer's Block: Facets of a Hero

My first instinct was this:  The almost reflexive decision to do the right thing regardless of personal cost.  Good people weigh the options and then do the right thing assuming that it does not come with an overwhelming personal cost.  Heroes don't consider, they just react because their is no option to them to say no.
This is not necessarily brave, because bravery involves facing down a fear and going through with the action despite the potential consequences.
