Tell you about myself, if you're in the mood to listen

Hello friends, family and random people who have stumbled across this by googling “irregularly updated blogs of dull nerds”.  I am asexual.

I had planned on doing this next month, since next month is National Coming Out Day.  But this week is Asexual Visibility Week, and to be honest I’d rather do this sooner than later and not have to have it ( Read more... )

There was a good thing that I read or heard somewhere on AVEN, that society on the whole is a lot more comfortable with the idea that people will have a relationship which is about sex with no love, than it is about a relationship with love but no sex. Which seems a fair point from the conversations I've had :P

YES! That actually puts it into better words than I had.

I'm [almost] 24, totally into sex, but have never had it. I'm *dying* to lose my virginity/boink (with someone besides my vibe/hand), but I don't know/am not attracted to anyone currently (or at least, no one that's also into me), and thus am not anywhere close to losing it.

At my age, it's like people automatically expect people to be having sex when they're in any kind of romantic relationship, and while I'm totally willing to have sex, I'm not entirely *ready* yet (see the whole lack of partner/knowing anyone). I'm not the type that'll have sex without love (or if I am, it's not going to happen the first time). Yeah, I might have a hyperactive sex drive according to the quiz (and my own fantasies), but I'd still need that emotional connection with someone before I'll "sleep" with them (even if the sexing doesn't have the aspect of emotionally connecting with them, and it's all about getting off, I'd still need the emotional connection).

And yeah, I understand where you're coming from about the whole "just not interested" thing. Honestly? I think you're more sensible than the rest of us. When you think about it, sex is really dirty, nasty and gross (and just plain funny when it's lesbian sex). If everyone just looked at the cold, hard facts of reproduction (male inserts bodily fluid into female), no one would *ever* want to reproduce. Seriously. It just *sounds* gross.
