So I've been searching all over town for a copy of the summer edition of Interweave Crochet and I'm not finding it. gao. (by the way, if anybody needs xmas ideas for me, I'd die for a subscription to this magazine) Everywhere has Interweave Knitting and Interweave Felt, but no Interweave Crochet.

The summer IC had this awesome pattern for sandals, and I'm dying to make some, but the pattern i found didn't have the pattern for the sole! I have attempted to fake it to no avail, slipper patterns designed for yarn just don't behave the same way with jute twine. Well, i ask about it at one of my normal craft stores (there's at least 3 stores that I end up in at least once a week each, often more) and they said to try Borders. So I do. Once again, Interweave Knitting and Interweave Felt but no Interweave Crochet.

Well, I figure since I'm there anyways, I should see if they have any good amigurumi books. One book I have been hearing a lot about is Mr Funky's Super Crochet Wonderful. So I flip through it... I don't NEED it. All the critters in there I could make without a pattern, and there are no stellar wearables I couldn't figure out either. So I look through another one I hear about all the time on Craftster (it even has it's own subforum) Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker. Don't really need that either. It's all too easy. I want to be challenged! As I look across the shelf I find that half the books have the word "easy" or simple" in the title. I don't WANT easy or simple! I want something that makes me push myself further. I am pushing very hard to break into the same realm as my sainted mother, that of "truly amazing woman". I'm not going to get there by making more granny squares.

Although, at least I saw a book that amused me...
