So, last week I posted how I'm trying to make the
deadline to submit a manuscript to Harper Voyager. I thought I'd check in and see how everyone else is doing!
I HAD A BREAKDOWN AND A BREAKTHROUGH TODAY.
I reached 30000 (to clarify, I had a REALLY OLD manuscript to work from and I rewrote the beginning ~ about 16000 words and then was able to bring in about 14000 of old stuff that I tweaked and I think fits).
and then I hit the Stage of Crippling Self Doubt.
So I did what I used to do back in my university days when I'd get stuck on a math problem - I hit the treadmill. I'm NOT an athlete but I find that getting my brain to work through a problem usual requires me doing something different with my brain - music, moving or something tactile.
and on the treadmill, it happened. I FIGURED SHIT OUT AND IT MAKES SENSE.
I am RENEWED! REINVIGORATED! READY TO GO AGAIN!
but, tomorrow. I'm tired.
The stats:
Current word count - 30304
Bags of chocolate chips eaten - 1
Pots of coffee - about 7
Frequency of freaking out - hourly.
Estimated word count of completed project - um, 90000. I think.
WE CAN DO IT
