We're already done with one regional. Crazy.
Great Lakes was an educational experience if nothing else. Well, it was fun too. By some miracles of miracles we seeded 13 out of 59. Not bad for a robot that missed one match and didn't move in two others. Our final record was 6-3-0. And the gripper works. It's the first subassembly that I've mentored on my own so I'm kind of proud of it. This is the least depressed I've ever been that we didn't make finals. It gave us the time to get everything ready so we can hit the ground running (literally) at West Michigan. I don't think I'll get the field coaching position anytime in the near future though. :( I think the engineer that had it liked it too much. At least I have about the world's coolest scouting system running. The kids that were recording match performance did an excellent job, and I was able to run around in the pits and do strategizing for the coach and drive team, who were too busy working on the robot to do much of anything else.
In non-robotics related news, my parents are putting an offer on a house tomorrow. They've been talking about moving since I was about 10. It's about 1.4 miles from the current house and in the same school areas (except elementary, which doesn't matter anymore anyway). I'm kind of impartial as to whether to offer gets accepted or not. Though if all does work out I'd have a basement large enough to host a nice sized LAN party.
