Cycling FTW

Tube strikes are enlightening.

They got me off the tube and onto my bicycle. Using the mighty Colliers Wood to City Cycle Superhighway is a joy (thank you Boris) and I feel remarkably safe. The fact that hundreds of other cyclists are using them is also fabulous. Cycling from Tooting Broadway to Clapham Common is also officially faster than taking the tube. I have measured it - and I'm only a little girl on an old, clumsy bike, going uphill. And even I can outcycle the tube. Also I feel all fresh and awake in the morning after a 20 minute cycle. Good stuff!

So thank you tube strike, for showing me that I don't need the tube (until maybe midwinter when it is very cold and dark and wet).

I'll be cycling my commute from now on. I hope you're happy! ;-)

(Had a lovely moment this morning - had to stop on Southside because my lace got stuck in my pedal, and I turned round and a goose was looking at me from the common. It really doesn't feel that urban ;-) This made me very happy.)
