Hi there :)
Well what a long time it's been since updates!! It really is a hassle not having access to livejournal at work anymore.. it's been so long i cannot think of everything that has been happening!
I am envying everyone back home for their cool weather! It's been sooo hot over here which has been awful for trying to sleep during the day whilst doing night shifts! Last week it was around 33/34 degrees and it's about 31 today - very very muggy and humid as well, as there are a lot of storms expected but everytime it 'rains' it only lasts for 20 minutes and doesn't get rid of the humidity! ARGHH, the tube temperature is getting up to 47 degrees and bus temp's have reached 54! It's a nightmare travelling anywhere.. oh well hopefully it will cool a little soon :)
I hope you are all going well, we are all well over here apart from the muggy weather :) I've been shopping a couple of times last week and bought 2 more pairs of jeans! woohoo Had an aqua massage which was just lovely :) went to a Blues festival in Ealing last Saturday which was really good fun (took the puppy along too which was a good idea - everyone just loved him!) got to catch up with Craig and Kylie which was good as well
Sar is now on holidays and is off to Ireland for a week at the beginning of August - Tom and her are going to get the Ferry over and he will drive to Kerry for the Puck festival and show her places around southern Ireland which will be lovely :)
Sar and I are going on a
'Scandanavian Escapade Tour' with Tim the Tourman at the end of August :)
We are SO excited... 3 countries in 3 days (so 3 more shot glasses hehe) and we get to spend overnight on a Viking Cruise ship :)
DAY 1 - Saturday, August 26
Meet Tim The Tourman at London Gatwick Airport for the 9:30 flight to Tallinn , the capital of Estonia. Upon arrival we will transfer to the City Guesthouse on the edge of Tallinn’s Old Town. We will then embark on a walking tour during which you will see 15th century walls, turrets, spires and cobbled streets intertwine in a sea of medieval bliss. Highlights include the Russian Cathedral, Toompea Castle and Estonian Parliament building amongst others. At 19:30 we will meet for a few predinner drinks then at 21:30 we are booked into the famous medieval restaurant Olde Hansa . Finally we will head out to sample some of Tallinn’s famous nightlife. The rest of the night will take care of itself!
DAY 2 - Sunday, August 27
We will depart the City Guesthouse at 9:00 (breakfast is included) and take taxis to the port (20EEK) in order to catch the 10:15 Nordic Jet Line ferry across the Baltic Sea to Helsinki , the capital of Finland. Upon arrival we will store our bags in lockers at the port before having a stroll around the city, including some free time to explore on your own (tram 3T goes to both the Rock Church and the Olympic Stadium). We will meet back at the port at 16:00 in order to board the Viking Line cruise ship for its 17:30 sailing. This is where the party really begins! After quickly settling into your cabin you can choose from: a movie cinema; Irish bar with karaoke; cabaret bar; casino; sauna; or duty free shopping. You will then have the chance to join the Viking Buffet (£20). This smorgasbord includes traditional foods such as herrings, meatballs and pate as well as beef, pork, salmon, salads and vegetables. On top of this you have all-you-can-drink beer, wine and soft drinks. This comes highly recommended! After dinner we will hit the bars again and then finally the top floor nightclub! This boat trip is legendary in Scandinavia and by morning you will know why.
DAY 3 - Monday, August 28
The Viking Line arrives in Stockholm , the capital of Sweden, at 9:30 and we must all meet in the terminal building by 10:00 at the latest in order to catch the transfer bus to Central Station (30SEK). Once there we will put our bags in lockers and head across to the Gamla Stan (Old Town) for a walking tour and some lunch. You will then have some free time to go shopping or explore more of Stockholm including the Vasa Museum (80SEK) and Skansen (70SEK), the outdoor folk museum. To fittingly conclude the tour we will meet back at Central Station at 18:00 for a drink at the Nordic Sea Hotel’s Icebar (140SEK / 30min) where all of the interior fittings, including the glasses, are made of pure, clear ice from the Torne River in northern Sweden. Finally we will take the 19:15 Fly Bus to Västerås Airport (130kr / 75min) for our 22:10 flight back to London Luton.
How awesome does that look??? :) Sar is also going to try to do a tour around Scotland after Ireland so she will be a busy girl :)
Anyway I have just had lunch and am going to go take Finn for a walk in the park as it's so hot inside the house! (Finn is Vince's Staffy puppy who is 2.5 months old - he is just gorgeous :)
Take care all
Lots of Love
Zoe
