OK...
So, today after the daily opthamologist appointment, Lauren who is fabulous, and I decided to stop by Eckerd on 30 to see if they had sunglasses. I got sick of the ones I've been wearing, as Jackie pointed out, for two days...hah!
some history...
Ever since I've been home from Kansas City and living in or around the King of Prussia area whenever I need a pharmacy or anything remotely close to something I can get from the pharmacy I stop in at Eckerd, specifically to say hi to Jackie, or in Rachel Allen's case for her to stalk her... lol -jk. -it's actually more out of convenience and quicker to get what I need.
back to the story...
so, today we went in there... Jackie said hi to me to get my attention, and then I knew it was her... then we found the sunglasses... Lauren and I had some fun, and then Lauren was looking at the hair products and I was playing with the two pairs of sunglasses that I had in my hand... And I look up
...and I look up (with whatever I can look up with, because I am half blind) and there's this associate standing there. He has a blue shirt and a name tag that says 'Kyle'. "Are you finding everything your looking for?" To which I kindly responded, "yes, thank you..." To which he then proceeded to stand there... I'm guessing he was looking at me, but unfortunately I really couldn't tell, because I'm half blind.
The awkwardness continued as he stammered for words, "So, I see you coming in here a lot..."he said. to which I said, "Oh yeah, well I go to school like right here, and mainly it's just to harass Jackie," I said with a smile, he didn't take the joke. I think he was too nervous. He then said, "So, you work at Chili's?" to which I said, "yeah I just started there this month..."
"It's a good place to eat."
"Yes it is... I enjoy it," I said as there was more awkward silence.
"I'm Kyle."
"Well, Hi, I'm Zoe..."
"So do you live in King of Prussia?"
"Uhm... Yeah, I kind of go to college at Eastern."
"Oh. -I'm starting college at Harcum next year."
"Oh, cool," I said, as he continued to stare at me, and Lauren just stood there in silence not sure of how to bail me out. The awkwarness continued...so I said, "I lived on Harcum's campus once, because Eastern students can live there..."
"Was it nice?"
"Yeah... I guess..."
"Well do you live there now?" He got this little face of hope that I was able to make out...
"No, I moved away from there a long time ago." The hope faded...
He the stammered a little more, "Well, maybe I'll see you around sometime, or maybe I'll get your number..."
To which I said, "Uhm.. maybe, Lauren we need to go."
And Lauren agreed and he said "I'll check you out."
As we headed toward the front of the store, I stopped by the pharmacy desk and said, "well, actually I need to say goodbye to Jackie."
Lauren and I just stood there and I was like, 'ack!' -And we just stood there until I heard, "Can I help you?" -I then breathed a sigh of relief, it was a familiar voice belonging to Jackie. I called her over and told her about Kyle. and said, "Can you please check us out so I don't have to go up there to Kyle?"
Jackie kind of chuckled and said, "Poor Kyle, he probably doesn't realize that you're five years older than him."
So she checked us out and we left without me having to run into Kyle.
It was quite a time and rather funny... But I feel really bad for Kyle, because I wonder how long he's been waiting to ask me for my number... and then to do it in front of oe of my friends... That's why I didn't have the guts to flat out turn him down... because he stammered about so much to get up the nerve...
Lately I'm rather amused by people because I have to pay attention to them in new ways...and this story just makes me laugh...
(it took me longer than normal to type this, and my eyes hate me... but this was so xanga-worthy that I couldn't help but write about it)
