I don't know how much hope there is at this point that the deportation can be stopped, but I'm trying to spread the word. You can follow the links to a petition.
Dear Friend,
Brenda Namigadde, a young Ugandan lesbian, is scheduled to be deported from the UK this Friday - back to the life-threatening persecution she fled from eight years ago.
With memories of a home burned to the ground and the threat of the new Ugandan “Kill the Gays” laws looming, the situation for her could not be more desperate.
One thing could save Brenda: we know that with enough international attention the one U.K. politician who has the power to stay her departure, the UK Home Secretary, might be open to reversing the UK government's decision -- but we need to act fast. Will you join me and sign this urgent petition before Friday to stop Brenda's removal -- it could very well save her life:

David Bahati, the Ugandan MP who drafted the infamous “Kill the Gays” bill, has now gotten involved, telling a journalist that Brenda should be returned to Uganda, “so that she can repent, and be reformed.” Bahati also said that Brenda has nothing to fear “so long as she abandons her homosexuality, she has the choice.” With this powerful, anti-gay member of the Ugandan government tracking Brenda’s case, she will be in extreme danger if forced to return to Uganda.
The UK has promised to stop removing asylum seekers like Brenda, but her case has slipped through the cracks. Without a massive international outcry to draw attention, Brenda could be forced onto a flight to Uganda in the next 24 hours. Will you take a minute to sign the urgent letter to U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May, who can stop Brenda’s deportation?

Together we can save Brenda and send a message that others like her must be protected.
