The soundtrack to the end of your life

Mar 13, 2006 01:30

Alright, so it's pretty late, but I figured I might as well smack my fingers against the old letterbuttons and talk to you about something important to me. Music. While some people won't really admit it, music is kind of like a drug. The more you abuse it, the more it fucks with your brain. Most people are content with their softcore drugs, but there are some of us who are into the more hardcore shit. Of course, I'm not talking about hardcore music per se, but lyrically and melodically intense tunes. You know, the kind that make you want to just leap off a bridge or chuck a ton of pills down your esophagus like you'd toss balls down a Big Bertha arcade machine. Lousy metaphor, I know. I think you get the point, however. In case you didn't, the point is that there are just some songs that make you just want to blow your brains out and have the ending credits start to roll. (note: this isn't giving you or me permission to end your mortality, that would be not cool) Being an avid music listener, I've decided to go through all 5500 songs I have on my computer right now to create a short list of songs that would be good to have playing on your speakers when you finally bite it. Some are ironic, some are heartbreaking, but all are worthy of pulling out that stick of butter and frisbee out of the closet. Feel free to add some of your own in the comments section. I might even put up the playlist so that you can listen to the tracks yourselves. Enjoy the end of your life!

Oh yeah, a lot of you (by a lot of you, I mean the one reader I have) will probably wonder about a few of those, especially the last track. I just have to say that A-Tisket, A-Tasket would be a great song to have playing while getting mowed down by a Mafia driveby while you're eating your spaghetti bolognese in a restaurant. Yeah, I think of these things.
