✖ age limit: You must be 18 years of age or older to join this game. This is due to LJ's underage/adult concepts rulings. We would rather not be put at risk. Also, some players do not feel comfortable playing adult themes with minors. So, to keep the player base happy as well as keep the community from being deleted at random, please do not lie about your age. Should the mods find out you are under age, you will be removed from the game.
✖ IC & OOC: Learn the difference between IC and OOC. We understand not everyone is going to get along, but do not bring your wank into IC happenings. Keep it separated. Everyone is an adult here, so behave like one. If any sort of dispute arises, please try to work it out amongst yourselves. NO forms of harassment will be acceptable. If you take issue with another player, just keep your distance. Should no resolution happen, contact the mods and necessary action will be taken.
✖ locked & unlocked: Pay attention as this is important. All entries will be public by default. Players are allowed to lock their entries if they so desire-this goes for SFW or NSFW. HOWEVER (and this is the important part of the rule) ALL entries containing adult themes MUST be locked. No ifs, ands, or buts. That means if a thread in your entry at zodion suddenly turns smutty, if there's excessive gore/violence, and so on and so forth: lock your entry. Obviously, we can't check everything, but we are all adults playing here so we're trusting you to follow this rule. If something is left unlocked and brought to our attention, you will be asked to lock the entry. Warnings (or strikes, depending on how often) will be given if you repeatedly break this rule. So, just do it, okay?
✖ reserve policy: Zodion handles reserves a little bit differently than most games that have reserves.
Reserves at Zodion are public and can be placed at any time during "Reserve Week" in Zodion on the Reserves Page. Reserves open one week prior to applications opening and stay open for a week. For the exact date and time, check the top of Reserves page. When they are open, you will see the word "OPEN" in big green letters at the top of the page. As long as the green "Open" is on the page, reserves may be placed. To reserve, comment on the Reserves page.
NOTE! While we do allow reserves, we also ALLOW challenge applications to be submitted!
As mentioned, we do ALLOW challenge applications to be submitted. In the event someone places a reserve on the character you want to apply for before you, we encourage to go ahead and leave a comment on the reserve page stating you would like to submit a challenge, though it's not a requirement.
For a challenge application to be valid to a known reserve, it must be submitted within 72 hours (3 days)of applications opening. Challengers will not hear any sort of response until the reserve application is submitted or applications have closed at the end of app week. Thus, if you are challenging, we ask that you please be patient and wait to contact a mod until then.
If a challenger submits an application past the 72 hour mark, their application will not be voted on unless the reserve applicant fails to apply. If the challenge application is timely, each application for that particular character will be evaluated indivually as if there were no challenge and only once final votes on the applications are in, will they be compared to one another for quality.
✖ warning system: A warning system is in place. The mods will review each situation on a case by case basis rather than a three point warning system. Some situations call for a stronger action than just a strike-we aim to keep our playerbase as happy and comfortable as we can be. If you are having issues with any player ICly or OOCly please do not hesitate to come to the mods.
✖ god-modding: No Godmodding. But this should be a given. Do not force actions onto another character. It's fine if details are worked out beforehand, but do not just assume control and infringe upon the actions/reactions of another character.
✖ meta-gaming: No Meta-Gaming. Again, this should also be a given. Just because you know something doesn't mean your character does! This goes for other characters as well as player-run plots, game-run plots, world information and so on. Work only with what you are ICly provided!
✖ activity checks: Upkeep your activity. Activity Checks will be monthly and are a required part of game play. They will always start the last Saturday of every month and last a week. Players who do not meet this requirement will be swept from the game. Mods reserve the right to ask for more activity. There are exceptions, as we understand real life has a tendency of happening. Most hiatuses will excuse a player from having to complete an activity check, but do not use this as a form of character squatting. Repeat offenders who abuse hiatuses will be swept from the game. It's unfair to castmates and/or others who would like to play that character. In order to be excused from an AC, your hiatus must have been posted at least a week before it starts. However, this is subject to change if this becomes a habit to get around activity checks.
forms of activity accepted:
Any two (2) of the following:
● An entry in zodion
This means a post that your character makes (either solo or joint post) that has significant comment threads replied to by you. That means, don't post then abandon the comments soon thereafter.
● An entry in zodionlogs
Either one that you post yourself or one in which you are participating. The minimum amount of tags by you will be four (4). We would like to see more, but that will be accepted.
● Threads in zodion that are 15+ comments.
You can use an assortment of threads to add up to the fifteen. These threads only count if they are outside a post made by your character. If comments are your only form of activity, we ask that you double the minimum, making it thirty (30) comments (or more if you feel so inclined).
✖ hiatus: Hiatusing is allowed, but try to keep it to a minimum. Again, we understand real life obligations and that things happen. Players can take up to a month-long hiatus, we just ask you contact the mods. In order to be excused from an AC, your hiatus must have been posted at least a week before AC starts. All hiatuses a week or longer need to be posted here.
If you repeatedly take a hiatus to get out of Activity Checks, you will be subject to character squatting and could be swept from the game. What this means, is that if you post a hiatus three months in a row at the same time to get out of participating in AC, it will be discussed among the mods if you should be swept or not. However, we DO understand life gets in the way so this will be subject to discussion and dealt with on a case by case basis.
✖ character limit: Overall, the character limit is set at SIX (6) characters to a player without mod approval. However, a player may have up to SEVEN (7) (possibly more) with mod approval. To app past the base limit, please email us at the mod account (zodionmods(@)gmail.com) with the previous month's proof of activity for all of your other characters. You must do this every time that you wish to app past that limit.
✖ sock journals: Reserving/Apping under sockpuppets is allowed. Do not abuse this to get around the character limit. Should you be found out to be going around this rule, you will be asked to adjust your roster and receive a strike. No exceptions.
If you wish to reserve/app 'anonymously' so that other players don't know who you are, this is allowed. But, you must contact the mods with the journal used for reserving/apping, the character, and your existing characters.
✖ general sex 101 & you:
● Pregnancy is currently not allowed in game. For now the tattoo placed on the character will act as a natural birth control. This rule may be lifted in the future, but for now no one is birthing babies.
● As for STDs, there is nothing just yet! This is still just a new world, so unless your character has an STD from their world, there will be none. Yet.
● Sex is an IC requirement. That does not mean you have to play it out every single time. Handwaving is fine. If you choose to play it out, you are also free to fade to black.
● Sex is a form of worship in the game- it gives the Gods their powers. This constitutes as any form of sexual act with another person (or more if you want). That means slappin the ol tallywacker or puttin bait in the box doesn't really count. The only time it does, is if it's mutual masturbation. While the Gods would frown upon this method being used often, it is still acceptable. It will just take longer for the world to flourish.
● The tattoos on your character's body will eventually be a means of "control." This is not taking effect as of game opening. All players will be notified when things start to change and more information will be provided at that time. In the beginning, it is what it is: merely a tattoo. Players are free to choose the location and size (no smaller than an American dime). More information on color and appearance is found here. This is a required part of game play and no characters will be permitted without one.
✖ character death: Character deaths must be run by the mods before they happen. To read more up on the subject, please direct your attention here.
✖ NPCs Use of NPCs is allowed and can be left up to player discretion on how they are used. Just use your best judgment. PLEASE NOTE: any forms of torture and/or death of NPCs is something you need to contact the mods about. This world is small starting out so there will not be many inhabitants available. Those that are will be highly trusted advisories to the Twelve Gods. It is up to the players to decide how the NPCs will act/respond to your character. This isn't something that needs to be particularly mandated one way or another. All NPCs in Zodion are working with the Twelve Gods, but in the end are just basically normal people like the characters in the game. They have personalities that vary just like you and me. Should you have any questions or want to have an NPC be a part of a plot or something of that nature, contact the mods (zodionmods(@)gmail.com)!
✖ character powers & you:
On entering Zodion, the gods essentially rendered every character human/humanoid and stripped them of all their powers save one. This power, depending on what it is, may or may not be reduced in its effectiveness (to basically keep those really strong characters from being able to destroy the world).
The one canon power your character gets to keep is completely up to you. However, it must be listed on your application with an explanation of what it does/can do and how much damage it could potentially cause so it can be tailored down if necessary.
Alternatively, if your character has no canon powers or you don't want them to keep any of their canon powers, they will be gifted a power on arriving in Zodion based on their sign and/or element affiliation. Here is the list of powers available to arriving characters. You may pick any one of the powers that corresponds to your character's sign/element and list that on your application.
Should your character be from any of the Shin Megami Tensei series (or anything likened), your character can have their persona and one skill. However that skill will be drastically reduced for the time being, since technically, having the persona counts as a power. For example, if you were to app Mitsuru from Persona 3 (before the upgrade) she would have Penthesilea with her. The skill you could bring could be Bufala, but it would only work around 30-40%. When bringing in personas, please try to stick to attack based skills rather than healing/charm/etc. If you have any questions, email the mods (zodionmods(@)gmail.com).
