[ Guilford has been absent for some time. The man has no recollection of how -- or even precisely when -- he made it to the temple. Not even after he woke up and left.

On his way to the city proper, he makes his presence (and irritation) known. ]

This is Guilford. [ Said as if those who might still be around, if they are, need that introduction ( Read more... )

Hello, Mr. Guilford. As difficult as this may be to believe, a battle of sorts had recently transpired. There were numerous casualties but many of them appear to be returning to us.

En. [ More confirmation than anything that 1) he is here and 2) Guilford's brain still works. ] A... battle? That is surprising news, considering the source. [ One of the people who did not quite understand his talk of being armed and ready.

The last part is worrisome. ] Can you be more specific about these casualties?

[a nod.]

It was a rather frightening ordeal. I myself did not participate in the campaign but I know many others who did. Unfortunately, it is as I said; people died, some of which have made note of it on the network. Perhaps a dozen or so in total is my guess but I honestly cannot say with certainty. At any rate, they appear to be coming back so it's all very confusing.

[ "Campaign." ] This sounds more widespread than a single battle.

[ Mostly to himself. ] --how can this place go from-- [ A frustrated sound. This is not the first time he's had to deal with the thought of the dead coming to life; though those, he believed, were products of the way this place manipulates time. ]

I was right. [ Vaguely confident, but not smug. ]

[ She's rushing.

Which is silly, considering she really hasn't any need to end up anywhere at any time. She feels like she should be rushing though, like she should be caring enough about something to need to be there.

Even if it's just her little apartment, to restock her poor, ravaged refrigerator.

It was all for a good cause, though. She made some people happy. (Regrettably, some people sick.) Perhaps she can do it again some day. ... After the others recover.

But in her rush, she neglects to watch where she's going, and as she half-twists to look over a particular architecture that she passes by on her way home from the store, she winds up crashing against another swiftly moving body, and down she goes...

along with all the bags in her arms. ]

--ah!

Gck--! [ There went all of his thoughts, his glasses and, most importantly, his balance. Quick reflexes are not enough to keep him from crashing down with her, but at least he is able to keep his hold on her with quick action so that it doesn't end up being a one-two combo of him falling and then her landing on him a second time.

He lets go as soon as their momentum ceases, as well as his shock. His brows crease; equal parts squinting at her face for details and scowling like a schoolteacher who just caught a student running blindly in the halls.

Blessedly, Guilford doesn't even say anything, yet. ]

[ That's okay, because Orihime does more than enough talking for the both of them. ]

Ahhhh I am so sorry! I wasn't watching where I was going [ obviously ] I didn't mean to crash into you like that [ obviously ] Are you okay? Are you hurt? Did you hit your head QUICK how many fingers am I holding up?!

Of course you were not. [ That much is, as stated, obvious. ] Four. [ Clipped. ] I am not blind, nor do I have a concussion. If you will kindly remove yourself, I can properly search for my glasses.

There was a battle campaign waged against the area. There were apparently some casualties, but... It also seems like they got better.

[ Ah, that one Commander. Good. Someone who should be able to put things in terms he is more used to. ] That information lines up with another account I have received, Ms. Hoshino. [ Thankful for the corroboration more than anything, there. ] Can you tell me more about the forces that were engaged?

They seemed to come out of a bad fantasy movie. Several were reptilian though not all of them. We need to set up tactical withdrawal and fortification points I think so that if this happens again we can respond with some more order. Most of the tactics seemed to revolve around the philosophy of "Get them!" and there were several losses.

A common instinct, brought on through panic, no doubt. [ Speaking from the experience of some of the less well-trained resistance forces he's encountered in his military career. Guilford gives an affirmative hum. ] This response does not surprise me, given how safe this world was assumed to remain.

If there were indeed casualties, am I to assume that there has been some change to the effectiveness of weapons used on other individuals? [ Unless over a dozen people died of natural or environmental causes. ]

[There’s a soft sigh as Estelle replies, her voice trying to express her usual cheer but there is a noticeable hint of sadness.] Did you also not know or participate in the war until now? [A beat.] However, to answer your question - this is Estellise, and I was…I was not a casualty of this war.

I was... indisposed for some time. Over a week. [ Guilford was supposed to feel refreshed, but it's hard to convey that in his voice when he feels disappointment for leaving his contacts alone for so long.

Well, and then a war breaks out and he misses a chance to be useful. ] Though I am still retrieving all the details I can, I am relieved to hear from those who escaped the situation unscathed, Ms. Heurassein.

((ooc: Assuming that Guilford would get an introduction at some point in their last thread? And, of course, he insists on that address. OTL))

Yes, I...I was unharmed. [And hnng, she really doesn't like her name being used like that! However, in this world no one would know that name...but still...] Please call me Estellise. [Even Miss Estellise would do.]

Very well, Miss Estellise. [ He pauses. ] I wonder if this will appear in this world's history, should those theories prove themselves to be true. [ It certainly sounded like an earth-shattering event, given the Twelve were directly involved. ]

[ Leaving this on voice so that Tony cannot see the twitch of his brow. ] Asleep, it seems. At the main temple. [ He was tempted to make a correction on the use of that absurd nickname, but he has more important matters right now. ]

So you just took a nap. And missed everything.

I did not nap. [ A calming breath. ] I was rendered unconscious by some means I have yet to discover and left at the temple for over a week.

I am not the first person to have this happen to them, but I have yet to discover the purpose or the pattern.
