Things of a mundane nature

Life's been pretty mundane lately, hence the lack of updates. But mundane does not mean boring, and I'm generally cheerier than I have been for ages. I blame the fact that I've had some time to do some work and some time to relax.

I managed to finish a draft of the case study I was working on, which is a great relief. It's not taken quite the turn I expected - I had hoped to redate two solar eclipses and hence redate the Persian War of Xerxes, but instead I ended up denying that either one was a real eclipse. Not the conclusion I or my supervisors were expecting, and I find out what they think of my argument on Tuesday. My hope now is to spend a bit of time testing the water on a whole bunch of other eclipses in order to find some that are a bit more promising and a bit less tried-and-tested than the 6 I've done so far.

I've had some free time at last, which has meant I've been reading Ravenor and Ravenor Returned, rather than finishing my book like I promised myself I would. Still, I'm enjoying myself and relaxing, so it's no biggie, and I'm feeling the inspiration start to build. I can't wait for the WH40K rpg in March, either; I'm all excited about the possibility of running something.

It's nice to be roleplaying again; in the WLD we killed two halflings pretending to be Elminster, which was a lot of fun, and in the high level game my players managed to capture a necromancer lich, which was really impressive. More so because none of them died.
