Crap, I can't believe how behind I am on this. Oh, well, here we go.
MARVEL
Deadpool Corps #6 - Victor Gischler + Marat Mychaels. With Marat Mychaels' crappy art it became readily apparent just how crappy the writing is, so I've dropped the title. Alright, so Mychaels' art isn't completely awful, but his faces are pretty consistently off which makes the “perfect” bods even creepier.
Thanos Imperative #4 of 6 - Dan Abnett/Andy Lanning + Miguel Sepulveda. Fucking awesome. And I'm glad to have finally found out that this series is not the finale of Abnett & Lanning's cosmic tales, it's just another one.
Thor #614 - Kieron Gillen + Doug Braithwaite. The finale of Gillen's Siege aftermath tale is a fine one. I'm just still annoyed that it contradicts Avengers Prime, which is only so-so but is getting more attention. And it's not a minot contradiction, either. This has Thor helping Hela protect the souls of the slain Asgardians, while Avengers Prime seems to have Hela making a power grab and ignoring the consequences.
Thor, The Mighty Avenger #4 - Roger Langridge + Chris Samnee. A consistently good read, the both the Warriors Three and Captain Britain were wonderfully handled. Unfortunately this series is ending with #8, a fate I think due in large part to Thor oversaturation. You've got this, which was supposed to be an ongoing, competing with the regular series, and then five different miniseries - For Asgard, First Thunder, Ultimate Thor, Astonishing Thor, and the Loki series.
X-Force: Sex and Violence #3 of 3 - Craig Kyle/Chris Yost + Gabriele Dell'Otto. Gorgeously painted, just wish the story was a little stronger.
X-Men #3 - Victor Gischler + Paco Medina. Wolverine versus vampires, what could go wrong? Well, since it's not the finale yet, plenty. I was a little annoyed with the ending because it contradicted earlier stories, but that got resolved the next issue. So, yay!
BONGO
Comic Book Guy: The Comic Book #3 of 5 - Ian Boothby + John Delaney. Nerds battle geeks, since they no longer have comics to distract them owing the Marge's overhaul of the comic shop. Spoofing homages to Little Lulu and Little Nemo are a couple of highlights of the issue.
BOOM
28 Days Later #14 - Michael Alan Nelson + Alejandro Aragon. Still pretty damn good. Fans of The Walking Dead should check this series out.
DC
Batman: Odyssey #3 of 13 - Neal Adams. I feel bad because I want to love this, cuz it's Neal, but while the art is fantastic the writing and the story structure itself are both failing. There's just a lot of stuff that doesn't make a lot of sense.
Booster Gold #36 - Keith Giffen/J.M. DeMatteis + Pat Olliffe. Booster continues to play in the past with his old pal Blue Beetle, ostensibly to find something that can be used against Max Lord.
Doom Patrol #14 - Keith Giffen + Matthew Clark/Ron Randall. Oh, look, the Chief just went bugshit crazy. This time with superpowers. It would be nice to sometime NOT have Chief try to kill the team.
Green Lantern #57 - Geoff Johns + Doug Mahnke. The hunt for the avatars continues.
Justice League: Generation Lost #9 - Judd Winick + Fernando Dagnino. A really, really good series that continues to ramp up the tension with every issue.
IDW
G.I. Joe #22 - Chuck Dixon + Alex Cal. High action in G.I. Joe? Every issue should be this good, and if they were I wouldn't be on the edge of dropping.
Transformers: Drift #1 of 4 - Shane McCarthy + Alex Milne. It's the transformation of McCarthy's original creation from a Decepticon named Deadlock into an Autobot named Drift. For a supposed origin story, there's a feeling that there's still be a lot of things left out. By page three Deadlock is already trying to overthrow his supervisor and take over the group of Decepticons that he's with, but throughout the entire series his motivation for doing such is not explained. He's more a loner than a leader, so this attempted coup just seemed a lazy way to put him at odds with the Decepticons, disappointingly skipping a lot of potential depth that could have been developed.
