I just came from advising and it looks like I'll be graduating in the fall. Not sure when that means I'll actually get the degree, but at least I can say next semester should be my last.
I do have to take a pretty intensive course load. Probably for workload, but definitely for the actual amount of time I'll be spending on school. I'll be in class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30AM-6:50PM total... I will have breaks from 10:45-12:30 and again at 1:45-2:30, but it's going to be pretty hardcore. A little over 5 hours. I only have one class on MWF.
I also have to take COM 321: Print Copywriting in the summer in order to take the other courses. Which I don't mind so much.. It is 8:30-4:30, but fortunately only form July 7th-11th. I do have to have to gather up about $600 to take the course since I am capped on loans and financial aid. Again, I don't mind so much...
It's not a lot of money.. at least compared to how much it could be if I had to take more courses or was an out-of-state student. I could afford it now, but I'll just save some money I think.. No point in getting another loan for that amount.
another downfall is that one of these classes is a night course, which explains why I'll be there all day next semester. But it's only twice a week which will leave plenty of time to do whatever homework I have.
Like I said in the last post, my life is definitely at a turning point. It's going to be weird.. I'm honestly not sure where I'm going to live a year from now. I don't know if I'll be with my mom or with Tina or out on my own or what. Now is obviously the time to start thinking about all this.
Once I get out of school I'm going to want to get the out of here that's certain. But who knows where I'll work? or even what city I'll live in? I can't expect to get a great job just because I have a degree. More likely I'll have a full time job at some regular lower end job. perhaps I can get an internship somewhere to start off on an actual career.
It's definitely exciting, but also intimidating. I almost wish I could wait an extra semester to graduate. There are still courses I'd like to take. I was psyched about this Guerrilla Marketing course, but I just realized today that there's a time conflict with my photo portfolio class which I need to finish my minor. I guess I can always read about it or maybe take a class in graduate school someday?
It's open to all majors MKT315 2:00-3:00 on Tuesdays if anyone else cares... Guerrilla Marketing is pretty awesome, regardless of what you're studying. If you don't know what it is check this out:
Guerrilla Marketing Anyways, for now I'll just keep at what I'm doing and see where life takes me. I've been overwhelemed thinking about moving and doing homework almost every night. The directed study is kicking my ass, but it's getting easier. This summer's going to be a nice break. It's definitely time to get a fun summer job and start saving for graduation.
This is all very bittersweet.
