Word has it that one of my friends has taken a runaway and that he has driven off somewhere to the East Coast with her. She is 17, and he is 19. She, like him, grew up in an extremely abusive environment.
He did this on Sunday night, and I have no idea what's happened to him. We had a very brief, but weird conversation shortly after I got back from the anime convention. I'm afraid of this, because he's so...
At first, when I had heard this, I thought that it was probably a stupid rumor or a gimmick in the works. Like he wanted attention. His phone is now shut off, though, and I now have a pretty good feeling that he did indeed do this.
Right now, I have very mixed feelings. That was a very stupid thing to do, as the police are now confirmed to be after him, and I have no idea what this is going to eventually lead into. From an emotional standpoint, I can understand why he'd do such a thing to save her. But he's never really saved himself from his past. :(
I might talk to his dad sometime, because he's probably pretty messed up by this. That man is so hurt by this. On the other hand, though, I'm not sure that it's such a good idea...yet.
