I went to
Anime Central at the Hyatt Hotel in Chicago. It kinda sucked for me, though, because when I went to retrieve my registration (after waiting in line forever) I found out that the order that I had sent online had not gone out. I had a chance to meet
bloodangel, as well as
zerodotjander and
nothing0011. They were all interesting people.
I spent a good chunk of Friday just roaming Chicago with Patricia. I enjoyed talking with her about things, about life - talking about the friends that we have lost over the years. And about how we have a plan to prevent it from happening again, with friends of hers and people we know from our motley gaming crew. :)
I did more stuff on Saturday, and I met some channer who was called something like Hachi or Kanji-chan or something. She lamented about the fact that she had no boobs for twenty minutes while I stared at cartoon penises and image trolling gimmicks on the computer screen like a faggot. After that, she changed and we walked around and talked about very random, very goofy shit for a good two and a half hours. She also tried to con someone into temporarily giving me their badge, and it didn't work. =/
She eventually went in to the exhibit hall to buy some things, and she asked me to wait for her. I kinda did for about eight minutes, but then I decided to try sneak into it myself. This went on for a good ten minutes, but ALAS, it was basically to no avail. One of the door guards threatened to arrest me and I (exercising sound judgement as usual) insulted the rather angry authority and FUCKING RAN when he got up and started yelling at me.
The security radios weren't working, though, and since he was a really fat dude I didn't have any trouble at all in getting away from him. I did somehow manage to lose the channer (which was a shame since she had really great taste in music) and she supposedly hates me now for being a shitty escort or something. It was also funny because everyone thought that I was trying to make out with her the entire time, and when I said something to the effect of "You guys DO realize that I am gay, right?"
...it was sort of an excuse to dodge her, honestly.
I got to watch
nothing0011 stare off into some sort of astral plane for a good fifty seconds as he tried to comprehend this striking revelation.
After that, I went to some sort of party in the executive lounge where Bill, a gaming friend of mine that I've known from at *least* 1999, met up with me. I had to be the sober guy in the group while we sorta wrecked house, lol. The hotel authorities tried to crash it several times, but we were really too coordinated for it to completely happen. I got yelled at by several men in various uniforms, though, and they got really pissed off when I started asking them dumb questions.
After this, Pat called. We talked for hours, and I got so drunk by accident that I was mistaking the ceiling for the floor, lol. I sorta lost track of where she went, because she's got some place in Chicago or something that she has to keep checking up on. We were both sorta bored by the convention at that point anyhow.
In short, the convention itself could've been better. I have made it my mission to make the next one better! Sometimes...you've got to make things fun.
