2009

I haven't updated in so long that I feel a little guilty, so here's a quick catch-up entry.

  • Relationship: I've been in an awesome relationship since late May. I've really been appreciating my time with Jess. She's loving, caring, fun to be around, cuddly, etc. I love and respect her. Jess is now living in my basement, so we have our space but still spend most of our home time together anyways. Which is not to say I've sacrificed any social life, we both get out a lot as well. I couldn't ask for more.

  • Running: I again set out over the spring/summer to train for a marathon, this time the Seattle Marathon on 11/29. I've been running in my Vibram Five-Fingers the whole time, since March, and all my previous knee issues disappeared after that. Along the way I ran the Rock & Roll Half-Marathon, and later the Dawg Dash, both very solid races. And I got up to an 18mi run in training, which in many programs would make me already qualified to run a marathon. But sometime in September after that 18mi run, I started getting a nagging top-of-foot pain. I since backed off for a while on it, started going to see an Orthopaedic/PT, etc. It's not bad, but it kind of side-lined me from the marathon goal - I want to run an injury-free marathon. Anyways, that's an ongoing saga which I hope I'll find a solution for soon.

  • Work: I've been enjoying work a lot recently. It's been stressful but fun.

  • Alaska Cruise: I took a trip to Alaska over the sumer. You can find photos here. Believe it or not, these are actually filtered - yeah, there are a lot, but I think I cut 90% of them.

  • Iceland/UK: I took a trip to Iceland and then England for EuroBSDCon, part with Jonobie. You can find photos here, and more on Facebook (where I can tag people).

  • LJ: One of the reasons I don't post here that often anymore is that I'm lazy and mainly posting 1-2 sentence updates on Facebook when the mood strikes. You can friend me here. In theory, I also have a twitter account, but have ignored it.

I guess that's my year in review. One super-awesome girlfriend, running, a couple of trips, a lot of development work. There's plenty of other stuff, of course (consistent D&D, some bridge, much other socializing, etc.), but hey, this is the condensed version.
