A Rash Man.

This house, the air has changed. I came out of the clouds and landed on the concrete, scraping my face on its rough cold surface. When life seems like a dream, it really is.

To start off my semester I was dumped, isolated, and now am on probation. I will go to Poland this weekend where the weather is harsh-150 some people have already died from the freeze.

I met with the director for our program today about the probation. Here is what happened:

I followed Collin (my roommate) into a room with girls where we proceeded to talk about life and hang out. The girls pulled out a vile of alcohol the size of a baby’s fist and said “You gotta try a drop of this!” Collin and I put a drop the size of a tear onto our fingers and tasted the hard liquor, and to our disgust, it was the worst taste imaginable. We were pranked. We ran out of the room and shouted in distain, only to let the RA hear us and write us up for “possession and drinking alcohol”

The good part only begins here. I came into the directors office where he handed me a letter that will be mailed to the school. He said “read over it, and tell me if there is anything wrong with it”. So I read the first paragraph and stopped saying calmly and innocently:

“Um, Herr D, I am confused about the two clauses ‘you, along with three other students, were found by one of the Heidelberg RAs drinking an alcoholic beverage in room #8’ and ‘As no alcohol is allowed in Moore Haus’. The semantics of these phrases do not seem to be completely accurate because the term ‘drinking’ does not fully explain what occurred. Is a small drop on the hand drinking? Also ‘No alcohol is allowed” is slightly false since you stated that we can bring alcohol back to the house after trips and turn it into the RA. Realizing that it was a Sunday night after a trip and I assumed it would be turned in to the RA (like procedure), these two phrases paint the situation in a different light than what actually occurred.”

After this the director proceeded to not hear my point, interrupt me, tell me that he has a lot on his mind, that he is very busy, has health problems, and that he thought everything was clear. He did not look me in the eye, raised his voice (that which I did not do once), and after I talked to him, he anxiously shook my hand, and slammed the door as I walked out of the room. I was quiet, humble, well articulated, did not show any sign of disrepect. After he blew up in my face and made excuses, all I could say out loud to him was “Wow, okay…I can handle this. I understand, its fine.”

I walked out of the house talking to God saying “Father, if this is a representation of the Church of Christ and Pepperdine, I want no part of it.”

I was shocked, and offended.

Lord have mercy.
