Comfort and Joy- A Mrs. Hudson Holiday

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Christmas really is one of Mrs. Hudson's favorite times of year- the pretty lights, the shopping, the TV specials. She supposes it makes her a sentimental old thing, but when she thinks of the Christmases from when she was a girl, they just seem to be so special. The gentle flurries of snow, the cheerful greetings in the streets, the smell of good things baking.

White Christmas (Frank Sinatra)

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

The Christmas Song

She's always liked the Christmas songs; the older newer ones, not the carols, so much, those are pretty enough, don't get her wrong, but the ones they play at parties, she likes those. She can still remember her parents slow dancing to some of the more wistful songs while she and her sister played obliviously at there feet. Judy Garland would sing, and everything was right with the world.

Jingle Bell Rock

Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

A few years back, Mrs. Turner's daughter-in-law had given her a Christmas album by this funny German group that named themselves after heavy equipment (kids these days!), and she hadn't liked it, so she'd given it instead to Mrs. Hudson. Mrs. Turner isn't much for Christmas anyway, the old prude, and it turned out that Mrs. Hudson liked it just fine, so she plays it quite a bit come December. With the windows open, when possible.

A Holly Jolly Christmas

Deck The Halls

I'll Be Home for Christmas

That first Christmas that John was living here, everything was so jolly and stilted in turns. She was already waiting for Christmas to be over so they could get on the next one, and maybe that would be better, when I'll Be Home for Christmas came on the stereo. It must have meant something to John, because his face fell immediately, and he paused in the cleaning up of the paper plates. Before she could move to say anything, though, Sherlock was there, one hand on John's shoulder as he pulled himself together again.

Oh Holy Night

White Christmas (Bing Crosby)

Silent Night

Sherlock. He makes her crazy, he keeps her safe. He takes years off her life with fright, and keeps her young with his adventures. He's spoiled, loud, messy, brilliant, loyal, and hers. And when he plays for her on his violin, well. Well. It just makes all the lights shine just that much brighter, doesn't it?
