This has already been posted all around the online circles I frequent, but it's so lovely to watch -- why not post it once more? African American filmmaker Ava DuVernay directed this stylish short film for the fashion design house Miu Miu: "The Door"

I'm not a couture fashion person, but the clothing designs and fabric look beautiful. Beyond that, the film offers a good nonverbal depiction of friendship & sisterly thoughtfulness. It also features several of my favorite actors. A bit of disclosure: I've met the director a few times in a professional capacity, and she is indeed as empathetic, kind, & thoughtful as the quiet character interactions in this film suggest. However, I'd like this short even if I'd never met her :).
If you haven't seen DuVernay's
other films, do seek them out! As of this writing, it is still possible to find Middle of Nowhere (for which DuVernay won the Sundance Best Director Award) in some US theaters. DuVernay's previous feature, I Will Follow is available on DVD.
