Amadou and Mariam: 'When you live in this world you have to make yourself useful'

For some years I have dearly loved the music of this Malian couple, who met & married at Mali's only school for the blind ( Institut des Jeunes Aveugles ) and have gone on to enchant music lovers worldwide.  Among their many projects, Amadou et Mariam raise funds to help support the Institut des Jeunes Aveugles. Their words and music speak for themselves, no need for me to go on about it. Read this Observer interview conducted by Caspar Llewellyn Smith.
