phone interview, lazy day

The weather has turned gloomy and my energy level reflects it. Ugh.

Yesterday I did almost nothing useful except the phone interview for the teaching job. It went quite well, I think. He asked some tough questions. I got the impression that I made it to the next round of interviews. The next two interviews will be on-site so I'll finally get to learn something about THEM! I think if I'm offered it, I will take it, try to make it full time and try to make it work with my performing aspirations. Depends somewhat on how many contact hours they consider full time and what benefits they offer. Of course, I'll have a better idea if I want it once I see the place. So far, I have a good impression. If they are this careful about who they hire, they should treat us well after they hire us. I think I'd take the B&N job too and just forget about funeral singing. I don't have the resources to wait around! It would make for a busy 10 weeks but that doesn't bother me a bit. I need the money and I'm getting antsy to work. Plus, the brain function required for each job is totally different so it makes a good balance.

Tomorrow will be busy, thank god. I have a meeting downtown (start alumni networking) 11-1 and I'm taking the bus! It costs $3 round trip and saves me more than that in gas and parking. It will take an hour each way but I can just read and enjoy the ride. I don't even have to transfer! I was hoping I would have time to bum around and look at the clearance racks at the fancy department stores but my conducting student wants a lesson after school so I need to be back north by 3-ish. Anyway, I shouldn't buy any clothes until I know what work I'm doing.

Then Saturday, I'm going to another alumni event in St. Cloud! We are playing SCSU and there is a pre-game event. Then I will go to the game (my first football game in YEARS!!) and afterwards meet my friend G who was newly hired there to start an athletic band program. He's only been in MN 3 weeks longer than I have. So this turns out to be a slightly expensive weekend but it should provide some good networking, reunion, and fun! I guess I won't be going contradancing then. :( Time-wise I could do it, but I will be tired and feeling too poor to shell out another $9 plus burning gas to get there and back.
