I realize I'm supposed to be on hiatus, but I discovered a bunch of unfinished fanfic I want to clear out before the end of the year! And thus, I come to you with the snippets from
dancingfists's universe. \o/ For those not in the know, Team Fujibayashi is a roleplay set in the heart of the Kim Possible universe, and admittedly, it's an incredibly wild ride.
Title: Road Trip
Fandom: Team Fujibayashi (Tales of/Kim Possible crossover)
Summary: Senel and Luke have a completely uneventful road trip back home.
Disclaimer: Kim Possible belongs to Disney (or at least, the concept does) while the Tales of series and all of its characters belong to Namco-Bandai. I don't own anything except this crazy idea for a plot, okay?
Luke carefully held the bouquet of flowers in his hands as he walked out of the flower shop with Senel. It wasn't unusual to see him with the Werites Beacon noble, either; the two were distantly related and childhood friends.
So what was unusually about today? Senel was taking a seat in the passenger seat of the sedan as Luke took the steering wheel. The driver was a fon Fabre child. And as every teenager in Aselia knew, fon Fabre children should never, ever be allowed to handle the steering wheel.
Most people thought Senel was an idiot. For someone who had grown up with Luke, he seemed to fail to grasp the concept of "Luke and Asch do not ever sit in the driver's seat." Yes, the boys were seventeen - and they somehow miraculously received driver's permits, but as for actually driving? It was pretty near impossible that the trip would be uneventful.
Grinning, Luke pushed on the acceleration, "Doesn't this feel great?"
Senel clentched his teeth, "If you say so."
Was money involved? That didn't sound right; Senel had always been overflowing with cash. He didn't need money, and he sure wouldn't receive it from the fon Fabre. They were cousins - supposedly - and they'd grown up together.
Still. Senel didn't exactly let childhood relations get the better of him most days. (Asch and Estelle could vouch for their failed excursions with Senel!) The white-haired teen groaned as the car just barely swerved around an old lady and her eight cats.
"Luke! Keep an eye on the road!"
"Not my fault the lady was jailwalking," Luke retorted.
Senel blinked. "She was walking on the crosswalk. Are you blind?!"
From that point, both boys knew it was going to be one long ride back to Meltokio. Luke pressed his lips, "Could you even see the crosswalk?"
"Not when you're going 90 miles an hour."
Luke didn't respond as he let his foot off the acceleration. Senel sighed of relief - knowing this was only temporary - as he sunk back into his seat.
There was a sudden cry as the car continued driving down the street. Peering out the window, Senel's face sank.
"Luke?"
"Yeah?"
"That was the fifth squirrel you killed today."
Unfortunately, Luke was well-versed in Senelese and his subtle words that always, always meant 'Maybe I should take over the wheel for now.' Making a face, Luke wrinkled his nose, "Maybe the squirrels should get out of my way."
"Or maybe," Senel pointed out, "You should stop for them. What do you think PETA's going to say to your squirrel-killing ways?"
Luke's face paled as he slowed down even more, "Is this why Asch drives like a granny?"
"Maybe," Senel rolled his eyes, "But he's not doing anyone favors either."
Finally - finally! - they pulled into the fon Fabre's massive driveway. Natalia greeted them at the door, her face aflutter as she scanned both of her cousins for injuries. "Did anything bad happen this time?"
It was a rhetorical question, both Luke and Senel knew, but both cousins exchanged knowing glances before they were ushered in.
"We brought flowers for Mother," Luke offered hopefully. "Because, you know, road trips can be pretty uneventful."
"...Yeah," Senel sarcastically agreed. "Thank Nerifes this one was."
