It is important to note that today was either the last or the only day of voting for East Quad government. I am quite possibly a horrible RC student for not really giving a damn about this (though the girl running for treasurer did give me a Jolly Rancher) but I digress. It may also be relevant that I have a cold and have been wandering around in the glassy-eyed state of semi-exhaustion.
While I was checking my mail, I heard an amusing exchange behind me. Two boys (young men? What's PC when they're a bit older than me but I consider myself a "girl?") were making a show of being extremely politically astute. It was hilarious, actually, but I spaced out a bit watching them and they noticed me.
And frantically backtracked their sarcasm.
"Oh, uh. . .you're not running for this, are you?"
"'Cause we're not really making fun of them..."
"We'd feel bad if you...."
"Oh!" I smiled brightly and tilted my head a bit to one side. "No, I knew you weren't making fun of them. The sarcasm faeries are flocking quite heavily around your heads. They're blue, you know. If you cross your eyes and stand on one foot, you should be able to see them more clearly. If that doesn't work, try hopping up and down."
With that, I turned and headed back to my dorm, relishing the shocked silence...I made it halfway to the stairs before I heard, in tones at least a bit desperate:
"Is your name Luna?"
