Stupidity/Ignorance Rant
Naturally, it is because of work at good ol' Timmy Ho's that I break my lj hiatus.
Now, perhaps I keep a bit more up to date on current events than other people and I expect too much from them, or I just have a weird knack for retaining knowledge, but I generally believe that most people do/should know what's going on in the world around them, in terms of major global or regional events. So today when my one coworker (37, female, Guelph-raised) asked one of the newer employees why he had moved out of Serbia to Canada 8 years ago, I was rather taken aback. Fortunately, Arpad dealt with it in an awesome way, as he said, point blank, "uh, I lived through 4 wars." (heart!)
Seriously, though, do most people not know about the Balkan Wars that ravaged the former Yugoslavia in the 90s? I thought, what with news reports, numerous movies, ER references, Kosovo sensationalism, and the war crimes trial of Milosevic that people would have at least some idea of what went on, especially the older generation.
She also had a weird notion of accents and how people get them/retain them, but I won't rant about that right now :p
In other news, improv is fun, tkep is slowly grinding to a halt (tear!), this semester has gone pretty well thus far, exams are looming on the horizon, and i have two jobs now. Life is hectic! That is all for now. Oh, choir concert Saturday. Come see me sing, and meet my mom!
And how could I forget: getting free beers, or beers for 25 cents plus tip, is awesome, and conducive to Brett getting drunk when he has 5 on a Tuesday night in rapid succession. And working at 5 am the next morning is not so awesome. PWS! :D
