FOO camp was amazing. Everyone was friendly, interesting and interested. I met some luminaries of my various fields, and a number of net celebrities. The atmosphere was really great, generative and fun. Excellent mixing of disciplines.

Last Saturday, after the Fremont Solstice Parade, a number of us were sitting on top of the hill in Gasworks park, by the sundial. Also at the top of the hill were a bunch of bike-messenger types, who were riding their fixies around and generally having a good time ( Read more... ) -
Nuts, but in a good way (bike geeking)
Eighteen months ago, I bought a used pair of brake levers at a big bike swap meet. They were shiny and pretty (anodized a gold/orange), cool looking, missing a few bolts, and well-used. I think I paid $14 or so for them. I kept meaning to put them on my in-town/ utility mountain bike, because they're oooh-shiny ( Read more... ) -
(another) four second update
Climbed Mt. Si on saturday. 3700 feet of elevation gain over 4 miles, for an average slope of 17.5%. And then the descent after lunch. I took a nap when I got home, and when I woke up I was walking like Captain Jack Sparrow.
Better now. Stretching, massage, and yoga have helped.
