Yep. That's why the folks I've cited aren't there any more. (And why I never applied to MS.) The ones who loved it are still working. I'm also a follow your heart type, but I know a lot of artists, social workers, etc, who work their asses off and love what they do. They will never make anywhere near as much as a random PM who works for MS for no particular reason except they were hiring. Are the artists and social workers insufficiently motivated? Nope, they're just not valued by society in the same way as techies. You and I are lucky as hell that what we like to do just so happens to pay well. Thank the gods your one true passion isn't accordion, or British food, or working with developmentally disabled people.
Thanks for the stock tips. I'm amused at your assumption that I've never had/sold any options. Knowing my personal lower bounds would have been useful. I did OK, but should have sold sooner. Why and upper bound? The stock is overvalued at that point and it's time to go? Yeah, that'd have been useful too. All that said, I never had the potential to retire on it, just more cushion. *shrug*
Yeah, for what it's worth, Amazon is about as exciting as selling stuff online can be.
nay, I do not ASSuMEseattlesqueMay 17 2003, 13:27:28 UTC

as a comedian playing to a frightened audience, I'm always glad if I can actually get a laugh...so amused is good. But notice I said: "here's something I tell *everyone*" (& since some % of 'everyone' has had/sold options, it's implied that I'll catch at least a few people who have)
