Travel!
Today I told my mom I actually am coming to visit her in Virginia in January, which means I'm also going to DC, NYC, and Boston. Then home for about 10 days, then to SF for a conference at the end of the month and from there... 2 weeks in Japan.
I blame morleyroarly, who said "I'm quitting, you're not working, let's go travel!" After a month of haggling and mutual egging-on, we've actually decided to go, together, to a place neither of us have been, where neither of us speak the language. Or read the alphabet.
As she points out, we've never spent more than, say, 90 minutes at a stretch together, so this will be a couple of different kinds of adventure. That said, we've been acquainted for something like 5 years, have some high-quality friends in common, and have had our lives intersect in other random ways (she was first on the scene at Nathan's accident, etc.), and overall I think we have a pretty good sense for the other.
So yeah. Any suggestions on where to go?
