Corporate doublespeak always makes me nervous--"early retirement incentive" sounds like a Bond villain's euphemism for a gun to the head. Which is to say, I'm glad it's nothing so sinister.
Heh. Nah, they haven't gotten around to veiled, bad-pun threats about retirement being "overdue" yet, har de har.
I don't know. No. Maybe. The free time might be nice if I want to get serious about my doctorate, but the bottom line is very important; the amount they're offering sounds nice (especially when phrased as a lump sum like it is), but it ain't that nice.
Bless you for sayin' so, boychik. It's not so much that I'm old as that they have to cut jobs somewhere, due to budget cuts. Thank Bloomberg for that. If those of us nearing retirement age agree to jump ship early, they can preserve the jobs of others, blah blah, etc.
Anyway I haven't decided one way or the other yet, so save the protests until I do.
I liked your link, it made me laugh. I kinda want the coffin book. I could start building mine now

The library's cutting $28 million dollars. And over four hundred jobs. So they're asking the old workhorses if they want to go to pasture early.

Do you?
