Weekend Trip - almost an anniversary

Jul 24, 2009 08:19

So we are heading out of town for the weekend.  Kim, the girls and I are going to Pipe Creek to see the in-laws and of course the regular Sea World trip with the kids on Saturday.  Then, Kim and I will go to dinner with an old college friend and his wife Saturday evening.  For me, however the best and most bittersweet part of the weekend will be the trip to Wimberly on Sunday.  This weekend will mark 4 years since my mom died in 2005.  Her burial spot is in Wimberly, a place that she wanted to retire.  After going there yearly, I can see why.  The rolling hills are beautiful.  I really think my mom would have loved the view from her cemetary.  It is in a seculded spot next to an old episcopal church.

I can't believe its been four years.  Sometimes it seems a fuzzy memory and somtimes it seems just like yesterday that she left us. My mother was the glue that held us all together.  She kept in touch with everyone and knew which birthdays were coming up and who needed what gift.  Many times after she died I think we all felt adrift to say the least.  I know from time to time I still get lost in the daily river of life that we forde.

I truly hope she knows how much we miss her and what we are up to.

Mom, you would not believe how the kids are growing.  Faith, is a handful and very particular about her wants and needs.  She is a lot like Kim and yet a lot like Megan.  Hailey is all me in her attitude and still mostly Kim in her looks.  Hailey is a wonderful dancer, you would really enjoy watching her do something she loves.  Faith eats vegetables and steak and everything her older sister won't eat.  Mom I wish you could be here to see how much they have grown and what they have accomplished in so little time.

I love you mom, we'll visit your spot in a couple of days.

Your Son,
Jacob
