Something I saw at outlands war practice the day after midwinter... There were lots more girls on the field. I saw it at our kingdom war practice... less girls on the field.
I asked one of them about it... and she felt... That many of girls get lots of positive re-enforcement from the folks who want them to stay on the field fighting for long term. That 'extra' attention is not always good. Some of them get it in their heads that they're better than they are - thus when things are tough they get discouraged faster. This lady, felt that if all the fighters were treated the SAME - that the girls would learn just like the boys to take their lumps and learn. Not everyone will be like certian unbelted dukes of the Outlands who picked up a stick and won crown in a year or two...
She felt that some of the girls are kept apart from the main fighting or fighters. That when they were faced with the boys from another area - they got hurt, they got discouraged and such - because they weren't being treated special - and the special treatment was hurting them in the long run...
I know some guys have some twists in their brains though - they don't like fighting girls because they feel it's wonky in their headspace... Protect the lady - vs - hit the lady like she's a boy... And some who don't like fighting girls because they're afraid that if they hurt them - they'll get a reputation for 'beating up on the girls'... and so on...
