You know how they say that it's hard to start posting again if you haven't in a while? Yeah...
I haven't been around LJ/DW much this year. Instead I've read a lot of books, 20 so far, all of them books I hadn't read before. This after years of (re)reading Pratchett and only occasionally reading a new to me book.
I may follow
elebridith (Hi! :D) example and post a list of the books I've read and the books I've bought or still want to read.
TV this year hasn't been great. Of the new US shows I'm watching Unforgettable and Awake (hello to Jason Isaacs) I'm enjoying them but of course both won't be renewed. I (re)watched the first season of Dempsey & Makepeace, all 5 seasons of the Professionals, and most of the Extended Lord of The Rings DVDs. So far I've seen the cast commentaries and the appendices, which took me a couple weeks.
Two most important things to say 1. Viggo is amazing, it's so great to see how everyone seemed to genuinely like him and respect him. (I'm sad he isn't involved with The Hobbit) and 2. I love Richard Taylor.
Most of my fic reading has been on AO3, some Leverage but mostly old fandoms of mine (Lotr, Lotrips, and Riddick) which has been nostalgic and enjoyable, but sometimes frustrating because I can't find some of the stories I have in my head. I know I've read them, and thought I'd saved them, but I can't remember a title or author and that makes searching for them pretty hard.
I'm looking forward to the new Leverage season, starting on July 15, and the three tie-in novels. I don't know yet if I'll buy the 4th season DVD, I didn't like the first half of the season, but I'll probably cave and order it as soon as it is available. The commentaries (I expect cast involvement) and gag reel will be worth the price alone.
I'm following the cast and crew on twitter and am loving all the pictures and vids they post from set, it's awesome to see them interact and them having such a good time while filming.
I also bought a ticket for the next Carlson & Kane Stageit gig, I loved the first one and hopefully the new gig will be just as good.
But I'm trying to stay away from the rest of twitter and facebook. I'm a lot happier in the fandom if I don't know every little detail of the crazy people get up to.
Today it's 60 days until new Leverage and there's been 62 episodes of the show so far, so on Monday I started a rewatch of the series. I'm hoping it'll help to bring back the level of enthusiasm I had for the show before the last season.
Tonight I'm watching a contender for my favourite episode of the series, 'The wedding Job'.
