*waves* Hi :)
I had hoped 2011 was going to be better than the end of 2010 but it wasn't to be, January and February have been miserable. I tried to catch up with everything last weekend but overdid it (again) and paid for it with a headache for the last 3 days. Today I've been feeling better so hopefully I can keep it that way if I take it easy.
ETA: I started this post at 11am and it's now 1am so that worked, listened to some of my favourite music and had a really nice and relaxing day today \o/.
To get into a posting rythm again I'm starting this meme I've seen around LJ.
day one • a song
Couldn't choose just one, instead have five eight.
As a child I never bought LPs or CDs and I hardly listened to the radio. The music I did listen to was on mix tapes made from albums owned by my brother.
The first band I really noticed and became a fan of was Dire Straits. I could have chosen any song by them, I love them all, but it has to be Telegraph Road. This song is 14 minutes of perfection, the guitar playing is amazing, I used to listen to it over and over when everything became too much and I needed to relax.

A few years later my brother introduced me to the music of the Irish singer
Luka Bloom. Another singer/songwriter who is amazing on the guitar. Here's an incredible live performance from 1990 of his song Second Skin.

Counting Crows is another band I've been a fan of for years. This is a version of Holiday in Spain they released together with Bløf, one of my favourite dutch bands.

Couldn't do what is turning into a look back at my music history without mentioning the Backstreet Boys. Brian shines in this acoustic performance of Who Do You Love from 1998 (can't believe it's been 12 years).

A few years ago, while surfing a cappela videos on youtube, I discovered the UNC Achordants. An a cappela group from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I love this fantastic performance of Ain't no Sunshine.

Late 2008 I finally realized that a band called Kane people around fandom sometimes mentioned wasn't the dutch band with the same name. I found two videos from the Liverpool Barfly concert and fell in love with Christian's voice and Steve's guitar playing.

The last song is by Jackson Browne. It's the song that should end every concert: The Load Out/Stay.
