Title: A Garden Planted
Author:
ziparumpazooRating: PG
Genre: Season 4.5 AU, character study
Pairings: Kara/Lee, shades of Lee/Dee and Kara/Sam
Summary: The only thing that really scares Kara is the idea of being forgotten.
A/N: First, BSG is one of those shows I tend to binge on, then go away for a while heartbroken and sad. And desperately needing fic. Second: There are some fantastic authors in this fandom who've written some exceptional stories examining themes like choice and a woman's right to choose, or the duty preserve and propagate humanity. This is not one of those stories. When Hotdog snarked "You've frakked half the fleet. What do you have to show for it?", Kara's reaction was… interesting.
Thanks to
mrspollifax for the encouragement and for introducing me to BSG in the first place.
"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there."
― Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
