It was still perplexing Dayna that she hadn't found a way off the station yet. It was in fact very irritating. She knew that the Doctor was looking, but she had a feeling that he was going to take off and not come back. That's what she expected out of men like him, anyway. She was surprised that Avon had returned as often as he did ( Read more... )

As much as Avon regretted losing control of the Liberator - God knew what had happened to it after his departure - he was not entirely displeased at finding himself on the mysterious station. True, he wasn't thrilled about being kidnapped by people he had never even met, but he was fed and sheltered, and there was a great deal of interesting technology to explore. Focussing on what he might be able to get out of the situation allowed him to push his crewmates' fates to the back of his mind.

Mostly, anyway.

In the spirit of exploration - or casing the joint, to put it less politely - Avon found himself in what appeared to be engineering. A woman was already there, and it looked as though her goal was similar to his. He approached her silently.

ooc: feel free to have her hear his clumsy self 'sneaking up' and punch him on reflex, or whatever, if you want ;)

He made it a fair distance before he heard the shift of feet, and on reflex she turned sharply and almost almost grabbed at Avon's throat. But then she recognized him, eyes widening.

"...Avon!" Her voice rang with as much surprise as her expression did. Relief as well. Had he survived too? She hoped that he had. She wasn't going to say that, however. Instead she was going to stare at him like he might de-materialize at any moment.

Avon eyed her cautiously, backing off a pace or two, hands held up. He was unarmed, and she was alarmingly fast. Apparently his reputation preceded him - or his name did, at any rate. Why was she staring at him like that?

"You seem to have me at a disadvantage," he said, evenly. "And that is a situation I'm not especially fond of. Who are you?"

"What do you mean who am I?"

How could he not remember her? After all they'd been through. After-

"...They did it to you, too. Is that what happened? Just like with Blake. After we went to Gauda Prime.... You have to remember, Avon." She had a feeling she was going to need Vila's help, as despite his feelings he could manage a more tender hand.

"I don't believe we've met," he said, forcing his voice to stay even, despite the flicker of alarm at the prospect that he had forgotten something he really shouldn't have. The thought of losing his faculties had always terrified Avon to an irrational degree. "If you know Blake, you must be from another resistance cell. As for Gauda Prime, I have no idea what you're talking about, and I have no memory of anything being done to me. I think," and his voice lowered to a growling hiss that surprised even him, "that you should start at the beginning - by telling me your name, and how you are affiliated with Blake's disastrous little rebellion."

"I believe I should have Vila here for that..." She remarked, staring at Avon. "Hold on a moment."

And another fast movement, just as quickly as she'd almost snagged his neck. She leaned in and pressed her lips into his. Because if he didn't remember that, then he has been wiped clean.

He blinked in surprise, but looked far from displeased. "As a form of introduction, I definitely preferred that to being strangled," he told her. "And I think you've cured my headache."

"Either I've sparked your memory or you're relatively easy to treat medically." She smiled faintly, dusting off his shoulders. Maybe worry for her fellow crewmate had outweighed any apprehension she had concerning his recent bouts with insanity.

"You do recall Vila, at least. He's here with me."

"I promise you I would not have forgotten that," he assured her. "And yes, I certainly remember Vila, unfortunately for me. If anyone was going to escape that battle with the Andromedans alive, it would be him. The man is harder to kill than a cockroach."

He refrained from indicating any kind of pleasure at Vila being here; it would be too embarrassing to admit it.

"So you remember the Galactic War but not landing on Sarran? Your shuttle pod crashed on the planet I was living on with my father. Unfortunately, so did Servalan's." There was a thick hatred in her tone. Probably the best Federation spies could emulate such animosity. But only the very best.

"I can let him know that you're here. Apparently their computer system allows for that..."

"My pod...crashed here," Avon said, slowly. "The last thing I remember is being on the Liberator. I must have been knocked out; I woke up, briefly, with the pod hurtling towards what I thought was a planet...and then I was here."

Servalan. Somehow he had been expecting her name to crop up. He let it pass for the moment, noting merely, "you clearly don't have much fondness for Servalan. I was rather hoping she'd been killed in the fight, myself.

"Yes...I suppose Vila ought to know I'm here." He gave a long-suffering sigh.

"Either way, with you here perhaps our chances of making it off the station will increase exponentially..." She fussed with the screen on the computer. "I met a scientist calling himself the Doctor. Attractive, in the way that I suspected he would be just the type Servalan would go trolling after. And yes, she killed my father. I have good reason to be displeased with that flamboyant cow..."

She set her jaw, not looking at Avon as she sent a message. "She did it while you were on Sarran. He was trying to stop her from stealing Orac."

"You're probably right," he agreed, pleased at the comment. "By attractive you mean intelligent and powerful, I suppose? Don't forget that she also employed Travis...her taste in men can't be that good."

He glanced at her, noting her averted gaze, the set expression. He shook his head. "I don't remember that," he said, almost gently, "but it is certainly in character for Servalan. I'm sorry."

She seemed to know so much about his life, and yet he had no idea who she was. It was a very peculiar feeling. He was reasonably sure he didn't have amnesia. He remembered the tall engineer he had met when first arriving at the station...he had mentioned time travel. Could this be...? He shook his head. It was a mistake to theorise without data.

"Someone that she would fancy would make a good bit of manipulated arm candy rather an attack dog." Of course, Avon likely wouldn't remember having been in that position himself.

The idea made her seethe. It had to be the Federation's fault. Avon had a strong constitution. Perhaps they had wanted to have their way with his mind and that was as far as they could get. They took her father, her sister, and now her friend.

"He'll be coming here in a moment."

"I suppose so," he mused.

"I can hardly bear the anticipation..."

Vila made his way down to Engineering where Dayna had told him Avon was. Vila wasn't sure how he felt about meeting up with a brainwashed Avon, hell, he wasn't even sure if Avon was really brainwashed! He just wasn't ready to accept the fact that the Federation was here.

He stopped in his tracks as he got closer and saw that it did appear to be Avon.

"Avon...You don't look like they brainwashed you. Blake at least looked like he had been run over by a tractor." He was still cautious around the man. After all he knew Avon wouldn't think twice about throwing him out an airlock, so he kept a bit of distance between them.
