Once a Viper pilot... [OTA; tag Laura]

Sentient station or not, Bill still liked to organise security patrols, to keep an eye out for any possible wrongdoing before the station's defense mechanisms were activated. Most of the time, though, it wasn't all that necessary. Like K said, security in this place was a cakewalk (and the paperwork as a result was incredibly light ( Read more... )

Laura was in OPs, still finishing up some paperwork from the virus that had gone around. She'd been spending most of her time making sure Sally was recovering alright, cooking and reading with her. She'd realized she cared a lot about Sally as much and as deeply as she cared about her own sisters. Funny how fast that happened, but perhaps when you shared a face...

Reading her messenger, Laura's eyebrows shot up at Bill's text. Firing off a response, she tried to negotiate with herself: No going to the hanger deck until all the paper work was done. But the more they talked, the more she had to see it for herself. Something familiar from home - well, what was home now - just appearing in this place.

Leaving the room, she walked down the hallways until she reached the hanger bay. She was quiet, but the clicking of her heels gave her away as she watched Bill.

Bill didn't notice her presence at first - he was too busy examining every inch of the Viper. Like he'd told Laura, everything about it was exactly the same as his old Viper - right down to the wear in the cockpit seat, and the slightly wonky control button above the altimeter.

Running a hand along the nose (almost as if the Viper was some kind of favoured pet), he looked up at the sound of heels clicking on the floor. Noticing it was Laura, he smiled.

"You see what I mean?"

All that she could do for a minute was stare in shock. "Gods...this is..." She stood next to Bill, reaching out to touch the bird as well. "Bizarre? Can I still use that word for this station? How does an entire Viper just appear without anyone noticing before now?"

He chuckled, fingers brushing over hers. "You certainly can, Laura." He'd thought he'd seen all that this place had to throw at him - from offering him Chief of Security, then plunging him headlong into a crisis where people turned into girls.

Not that he was complaining about this particular development. "I don't know," he said, finally. "Maybe the same way we arrived on this station?"
