It snowed all day today. How many inches? Many. Very pretty. My assignment for Spanish was to read a book, so I could almost convince myself I wasn't doing homework, just curling up with a good read on a winter's day.
I had tea with Libby as usual and we had the Mystery Cake Saira and I made last night and hot chocolate with marshmallows.
I got my acceptance packet to Amigos yesterday and I am SO SO EXCITED already. I like the people in this organization. They're very down-to-earth and caring, both about their volunteers (as I know from experience) and the communities in which they work. I'm happy to be involved in something where I can get behind the ends and the means... it happens too rarely. Also, one of the items on the recommended packing list is bubbles. Bubbles are universal joy!
I walked through the blizzard to talk with the Chaplain. She commented that I seemed a lot happier and more energetic than last time. I think this putting God first thing is bearing fruit. Being excited about the future also helps. On that note, she shared some Peace Corps materials with me. It's definitely something I will consider seriously, especially since quite a few universities will now let you put your Peace Corps service toward a Master's in your field of choice. Then I would get to have a home base in the States and put my relatively short-term service in a larger context.
Speaking of the future, next term I am taking Aristophanes (fart jokes in Ancient Greek!), Lucretius (flawed yet precocious ideas about stuff like atomic theory and evolution, in the form of an epic poem), Latin American Studies, a Spanish conversation class which consists of discussing the newspaper over coffee, and Swing Dance.
And tomorrow is Friday. Yes.
