I can has puppy!
So I proposed to my parents a few days ago. Proposed, that is, that they let me adopt a dog while I was staying with them. I got an email back saying that they were discussing it and that they couldn't give me an answer right away and I should call them today at noon.
In preparation for my call, I did research all morning. I came up with every possible objection they could raise and found rational win-win solutions for each one. I created a Concern-Solution document to email to them. And when I was finally prepared, I made the call.
It was just like when I was in high school and wanted to dye my hair purple. All that time spent preparing to counter the arguments, and then the arguments never arose. They pretty much just said that I would have to help build the fence and that, by the way, they might be getting a kitten. All that wasted time with my lovely document!
And yet, how can I be upset over the wasted work? They said yes! She will be mine! Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope no one else adopts my baby before I can get up to Oregon to pick her up.
